About Mike Vest

I grew up drawing...

Some of my early recollections of childhood involve me...

More on this to come at a later date, but I enjoy color pencil, ink, drawing and acrylic painting...

I was a store artist, creating overhead storyboards for both MJDesigns, as well as MediaPlay.  I have also done work with builders in the Canton and Marietta Georgia areas, taking blueprints and ideas of houses and relaxation areas and rendering them with trees and shrubery as we as custom colors.

I have also enjoyed working within the realm of academia and produced streambank profiles for Sandy Springs Georgia Watershed Authority.

I love both the technical and creative sides of art and am learning to implement artistic stylings into the field of GIS (Geographic Information Science).  This is basically statistic and data driven map making, and my intent is to find a niche making the maps have a visual appeal that enhances the viewing experience.  I am currently working in this arena via a publication that is slated to come out later this year! Thus far I am in the process of creating seven maps that show the geography of beer.

I am also concentrating, when possible, to complete a few other paintings and works that are ongoing.  Those are the ones I have published here under the collection names of "Taterbug"  and "12".  As completed, they should be added.
